LO1 Task 2; Facebook




Facebook



A) Purpose - The purpose of Facebook is to find friends and people who you know and add them so you can keep in contact and look at photos of them to see what they've been up to. It also allows you to create events to let you invite your friends to places with constant reminders so they don't forget. You can also see the news and videos which are shared by thousands of people and you can also write statuses about what you're up to or if anything has important has happened in your life. You can also message your friends and tag them in statuses, photos or even videos.

B) Visitor Needs - The visitor needs for Facebook is for nearly everyone who is over the age of about 12 who can use a computer, tablet or phone which lets them keep in contact with there friends and even allows them to arrange to meet each other through the Facebook. It is useful for all ages where they can interact with people around the world for free where all they need is some sort of phone or computer and an internet connection which means you can call people at the other side of the world for free without it costing or talk to them. It doesn't require you to have somebodies number either you can message them without even being added so you can talk to them. The visitor would want to use the website to share moments with friends so other friends can see what they've been up to and even join in, they can message there friends if they have no other way of communicating with them, you can see the news and tag friends so they can see it too and share events with friends so you can meet up with them. The visitor wants to be able to easily access the site whether it be on there tablet, computer or phone and see there friends profiles and see what they've been up to, watch the news, tag friends in videos/photos and be able to upload statuses, videos and pictures so friends can see. They can even add people they've seen around town and get to know them and see who they're friends with.



C) Information Flow – The Facebook website is easy to use for the user with main information and feeds in the center where you can scroll down, nearly wherever you go on the site the search bar follows which you can search for anything on Facebook which even says it in the search bar making it easy for the user to see what to do. On the right of the page is a tab where they can open there profile, go home, open messenger, notifications or account settings which is easily located at the top and the same tab where the search bar is so it follows you around meaning you can change your settings anytime you want wherever you end up on the page which makes it easy for the user instead of having to search around for things.


D) Features – The Facebook website has a lot of features with the scroll bar located on the left so you can scroll down your news feed while the search bar at the top follows down the page as you scroll which allows you to search for people, places or things. On the right of the screen you can see what your friends have just liked, shared or any statuses they have just posted and below that you can click on a friends name to start messaging them even when they’re offline. On the header at the top you will find the Facebook logo on the left with many settings on the right where you can change a lot of the settings on Facebook with a drop down menu.

E) Benefits - There are a lot of benefits for the user by using the Facebook site like the ability to message your friends without it costing you and it’s free to use. You can also find information about people or different businesses that have their page on Facebook so you can find their contact information. It recommends people which you may have seen before or met before but cant remember their name so you can look at their picture to see if you remember them.  We benefit from the site being easy to use so we can share videos, watch videos, view pictures, change accounts setting and many more.


(Producer) The producer of Facebook benefits from all the advertisements, which are displayed on the site, which the advertisers have to pay a lot because the site gets millions of views every single day. Facebook also benefit by selling information and pictures which people put on to different companies as when you sign up you agree to it in the terms and conditions.

F) Content



1. The facebook logo is located in the top left of the facebook page which will link you back to the home page if clicked on any page, the search bar is next to it which can be used to search for somebody, a place or a thing which is displayed on every page you go or if you scroll down it will still remain at the top of your screen. 





2. At the top right of the Facebook page there is your name which you created which if you click it will link you to your profile which you have created and show you what you have posted and your details, if you click home it will take you to the home page which will show you what other people have posted whether it be pictures, statuses or videos. The two people icon across from home is to notify if you have any friend requests which you can accept or decline if you click on it and it also shows suggested friends which you may know if you're friends with someone and they're friends with someone else. The text bar icon is to alert you if any friends have messaged you if you click on it you can see all the conversations you've had with friends and you can even click new message and write a message to a friend without leaving that page. Next to that is to alert you of any notifications like if one of your friends has mentioned your name in a post, picture or video you can view what you have been tagged in and it also lets you know if somebody have posted on your wall or replied to your comment or even said you're in a relationship with someone. Where the lock icon is when clicked it is a drop down menu to privacy shortcuts which allow you to edit the follow: who can see my stuff, who can contact me, how do i stop someone from bothering me" which is designed to keep people safe on facebook.

Underneath the tabs at the top it allows you to see if you have any event invitations which you can click and look at what is one like you may have one saying "Gig 24th October" which you can see who has invited you and then click on that event which takes you to the event page where you can see details about the event like where it is, how much it is to get in, who is going and they put if you're going to be attending. underneath this is a birthday icon with peoples name next to it if that person has there birthday on the day which you can click and it brings up a little text box where you can write something like "happy birthday" and it posts it to there wall instead of you having to type there name in, go to there wall and then click write post. 




3. On the right of the screen is showing which of your friends are online on facebook messenger so you can message them, it also shows you how long ago they were online with it showing you any group conversations which are going on just below. Above where it shows you which friends are online you can also see up to 3 notifications of what your friends have liked.





4. On the right of the page there are information about local news which keeps people updated and keeps them on the facebook website they can click the news headline to find out more information and pictures and read about what has happened, below that is an advertisement for a sponsor like from a clothing like which displays some of there best clothing wear for sale to attract customers.






6. At the top of the home page you can write a statuses about anything which then will be seen by all of your friends where they can like and share it, you can also add photos or videos to your message or just individually post a photo or video. You can also create a photo album for your friends to view when they go onto your photos, you can edit who can see your photos with the "public" button next to the post button.
